DESTINATION INFORMATION

Tēnā koutou katoa ngā whānui o tea o, nau mai, haere mai ki Aotearoa. * (welcome in Maori, our indigenous language)

Greetings to all the peoples of the world, welcome to New Zealand.

NEW PLYMOUTH, NEW ZEALAND

The city of New Plymouth is known for its sunny climate, art galleries and beautiful parks. It is also New Zealand’s ‘oil town’, with offshore rigs extracting natural gas and oil. The conical shape of Mount Taranaki provides a dramatic backdrop to the city, a constant reminder that the hiking trails of Egmont National Park are just a short drive away.

Down at the New Plymouth waterfront you’ll find Puke Ariki, a wonderful museum and heritage centre. At any time of the year, Pukekura Park is a place to relax and enjoy nature; it has a children’s zoo and bush walks. You may also like to stroll along the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway, a 10km promenade with stunning views. Expect good shopping and an impressive selection of restaurants.

New Zealand is a sophisticated and unspoilt land with truly breath-taking scenery. One minute you can be soaking in natural thermal pools or scaling glorious mountains, the next you are enjoying fine dining in absolute luxury. It is 100% pure – pure nature, pure adventure, pure relaxation – no wonder it is the envy of the world. The modern urban lifestyle, stable political environment and friendly people attract millions of visitors every year, and they keep coming back. Our primary language is English and our exchange rate tends to benefit visitors. Come visit us. Live and breathe the Kiwi way of life for a while and see why some don’t want to leave Aotearoa, the ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’.

GETTING THERE

Air Travel
For international passengers, we suggest that you try to allow yourself at least a day in which to adjust to the time difference and relax after your flight, before the ASM commences. Travellers flying westward across the Pacific Ocean are reminded that they will lose a day by crossing the International Date Line. The ‘lost day’ will be returned on the return journey. To obtain the best rates for international and domestic air travel, it is essential to book airfares as soon as possible. See www.airnewzealand.co.nz. It is recommended that you pre-book your transfer from the Airport.
